General Counsel

As the general counsel of Better Place, David Kennedy serves as chief legal officer and oversees the company’s legal affairs around the world. As a member of the executive team, Kennedy will lead the company’s legal strategy with an emphasis on intellectual property, including the generation, purchase and sale of patents, corporate transactions and financing, public/private partnerships and regulatory issues.

Kennedy has more than 20 years of legal experience and a proven track record at leading technology companies. Before joining Better Place, he served as General Counsel and a member of the Executive Committee at Business Objects, where he negotiated the company’s sale to SAP. After the multi-billion-dollar acquisition closed in 2008, Kennedy’s scope of responsibilities expanded to include additional SAP business functions.

Prior to Business Objects, Kennedy served as Associate General Counsel for IBM Information Management. In his 18-year tenure at IBM, he served as the head of IBM's European litigation group and counsel to a wide range of IBM business units, including IBM Global Services and IBM Global Financing, the world’s largest information technology project financier.

Kennedy has a B.S. degree in business from the University of Connecticut School of Business Administration and a J.D. degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law.
