Idan Ofer

Idan Ofer is the chairman of Better Place and Israel Corporation, a public company and Israel's leading holding company. The latter has holdings in the energy, semiconductor, chemical, shipping and transportation sectors, including a joint, car-manufacturing venture with Chery Automobile Company.

Ofer is former chairman of United Mizrahi Bank and currently serves on the boards of various energy, chemical, and semiconductor companies. Before his election as chairman of Israel Corp. in 1999, he spent a number of years in the shipping and offshore oil storage industries in Asia and the U.S.

Ofer is a founder of the Carbon War Room, an initiative focused on market-driven solutions to climate change and the development of a post-carbon economy.

Ofer is an alumnus of London Business School, where he holds a fellowship and serves as a member of its European Regional Advisory Board. He is a member of the Global Advisory Board of the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and a graduate of Haifa University.
