As president of Better Place Japan, Kiyotaka Fujii is responsible for all aspects of the company’s direction, strategy, and operations. In addition to this role, he oversees business development for Better Place, the leading electric vehicle services provider, throughout the Asia Pacific region. Fujii works with all parts of the transportation ecosystem, including automakers, energy companies, and the public sector, to make the vision of zero-emission electric vehicles powered by renewable energy a reality.

Fujii has nearly 30 years of international business experience that includes executive management positions in multiple industries, including information technology, retail, investment banking and management consulting. Before joining Better Place in 2008, he served as president and chief executive officer of the Japanese subsidiary of French luxury retailer Louis Vuitton.

Prior to that, Fujii was president and CEO of SAP Japan. Under his leadership, the Japanese subsidiary expanded its business threefold. He also served as president of Cadence Design Systems in Japan, and has held positions in investment banking and management consulting with McKinsey & Company, First Boston, and Goldman Sachs.

Fujii is an active member of Keidanren, the CEO association of major Japanese companies, and teaches international business and finance at Gakushuin University in Tokyo. The press often turns to Fujii for his perspective as a business leader in Japan, and he is a regular commentator for “Sakiyomi,” a popular weekend news program. He is the author of “Global Mind,” one of the top-selling business books in the Japanese language.

Fujii holds a B.A. in Law from the University of Tokyo and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
