CEO, Better Place Israel

Major General Moshe Kaplinsky joined Better Place in January 2008 as CEO of Better Place Israel where he leads the charge in redefining the economics and experience of transportation to help Israel free itself from oil by 2020. Kaplinsky is responsible for the overall direction, execution and delivery of Better Place Israel's vision and infrastructure. As part of his role, he oversees the research and development team tasked with building out the various components of the greater Better Place infrastructure - software, battery charge spots and exchange stations - which, as a result, allow for the successful mass manufacturing and deployment of zero emission electric vehicles (EV) powered by renewable sources of energy.

Prior to joining Better Place Israel, Kaplinsky, among other positions, served as commander of the Sayeret Golani, Golani and Galilee Brigades (1982, 1993 and 1999) in the Israel Defense Force. During his tenure, he was promoted to the prestigious rank of Major General and appointed Military Secretary to the Prime Minister (2001), General of Command, Central Command (2002) and Deputy Chief of the General Staff (2005).

Born in Gedera, Israel, Kaplinsky earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Business Management from Bar-Ilan University, as well as, a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Tel Aviv University. In addition, he graduated from the United States Army's Advanced Field Officers course. Currently, Kaplinsky lives in Tel Aviv, Israel, with his wife and two children.
