Launch of the world's first electric car with a replaceable battery and associated charging infrastructure is approaching rapidly. We have spent almost a year running Copenhagen thin. Last Friday was the Renault Fluence ZE showcase which was in front of City Hall for 50 of the EU transport attachés, who were on a three-day visit invited by the Transport Ministry on the occasion of the EU presidency.

Aarhus paves the way for electric cars

Aarhus Municipality has signed a joint venture with Better Place and energy provider NRGi to promote the use of environment-friendly vehicles, set up recharging depots and provide battery-exchange stations for electric cars in the city.

Aarhus is laying the foundations for electric cars to become a common sight on its roads thanks to a joint venture between the municipality, Better Place Denmark, and NRGi for the development and setting up of the infrastructure needed for charging them.

Middelfart Municipality and Better Place sign joint venture agreement on infrastructure for electric cars.

The Danish municipality of Middelfart has become the first on the island of Funen to enter into a joint venture agreement with Better Place for the development of infrastructure for electric cars. The agreement is a part of the municipality’s Green Growth Strategy and its efforts to reduce CO2 emissions. The aim is to inspire residents to switch over to electric cars.

Fredericia Municipality and Better Place sign joint venture agreement on infrastructure for electric cars.

The municipality of Fredericia is poised to become the spearhead municipality for the electric car in Jutland, Denmark, after entering into a joint venture agreement with Better Place for the development of infrastructure for electric cars. The agreement reflects Fredericia Municipality’s ambitious climate-change-related goals, and its hope that the initiative will provide the launching pad for the spread of electric cars in the Triangle Area and the rest of Jutland. Better Place expects that construction of the infrastructure network will be completed by 2012.

Avis and Better Place enter into partnership on renting of electric cars

Danish customers of Avis will soon be able to rent electric cars supported by Better Place’s battery exchange technology. Avis has wanted to offer rentals and mini-leasing of electric cars for some time, but has been awaiting the arrival of the right solution to make electric cars just as flexible as petrol or diesel. That solution is now on the way with the prospect of electric cars able to exchange batteries at exchange stations Better Place intends to set up all over the country as part of their nationwide infrastructure network. By using exchangeable batteries, electric cars will no longer be restricted to the range they can cover from a single charge, by switching to a fresh and fully-charged battery to extend range.

TrygVesta enters into partnership with Better Place and lowers insurance premiums on electricity-driven cars.
Sept. 29, 2009

TrygVesta has entered into a joint venture with Better Place to develop an insurance policy tailor-made for electric cars. As of September 1, insurance premiums will be reduced on electric cars by 40%, while the owners of hybrid cars can look forward to a saving of 20%.
